This October I will be riding my bycicle and fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
10
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
7
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
6
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.

Cherished Memories
Monday 7th Oct Saturday was a very special day as I spent the morning with my family (for my birthday) and brought my bike with me down to Goolwa. I was able to go for a bike ride with my Dad who is the one who got me into cycling when I was younger. My Dad was heavily into cycling following nearly going to Europe to compete but instead pursued a university degree. I spent many house with my Dad on my bike, namely riding along the coast when I was younger. My Dad used to at times push me up the hills when riding as he was always much faster than I was - one of many core memories I cherish. Saturday is the first time in many years that I have had the pleasure of riding beside my Dad and it really was another memory to cherish. Any ho! I thought I'd discuss this to show the depth of love that I have for the sport and how integral it has been for myself for many many years despite a few years hiatus following an unfortunate crash. It wasn't till this year that I got back on my bike and rediscovered my love, passion and sense of freedom that it provides. Starting back up on my childhood bike and then having to upgrade following some mechanical issues due to sitting in a garage for the past few years. The above is one of the small reasons why I love riding and how it was integral to the cherished memories I made as a child.Share
My Reason for Riding
Wednesday 2nd OctRiding Despite Sickness
Wednesday 2nd Oct Hi all! Unfortunately I've contracted Glandular Fever in the last month and as a result have been experiencing fatigue and been wiped out from being sick! I did have big plans to ride a few 40km rides along the Torrens River but have since decided to drop back to my usual 20km which I complete most days. Hoping for a speedy recovery so that I can squeeze in a larger ride for this great cause! Thankyou all! Safe to say this portion of my rides are less so about speed, but distance!Share
