Motivate each other
Before and during October, keep in touch. Create a dedicated team chat on Slack or Teams. Celebrate wins and encourage healthy competition. Create weekly challenges or set goals with winners setting the next challenge or just getting bragging rights!
“I thought it was a great opportunity to get our workplace together to do something for the community. The best thing is, it’s accessible for everyone. Everyone is busy, people have kids, they have a lot on their plate. Oceans to Outback provides targets that are achievable especially when divided by 31 days over October. It was this element of O2O that inspired 43 people to join the team!”
– Pallavi Bakre, Captain of AXE Group
How to fundraise with your team
Play to each other’s strengths
If you have a skill to share, use them as part of your fundraising. For example, those who love to cook might host a workplace bake sale or a pot luck lunch. In exchange for a big donation, offer to teach in-person or online classes in any skill you can offer.
Share the load
Ask your team to take on responsibilities. It could be as simple as taking turns on a weekly workplace fundraiser. Each week, a new teammate could run a small event like a chocolate drive or dress-up day.
Get creative
Add a little fun. You could host a special Friday night karaoke session, auction off your team’s name to the highest bidder, or offer to shave off a beloved beard or hairstyle.
Encourage friendly competition
Challenge your team with light-hearted competition and prizes. For example, the person who covers the most training kilometres in a week could score a $5 donation from everyone else in the team!

Your team could win a visit to an RFDS location
This year, three workplace teams will win an epic prize. Available for up to 10 members of your team, you’ll visit an RFDS Base and receive a personalised tour. You’ll chat to frontline staff and see your impact firsthand!
To win, your team needs to go further and be in the top three workplace teams on the fundraising leaderboard by midnight, 31 October, and it’s yours.
Inspire a workplace donation
Does your workplace offer charitable donations? If they do, your team could double their impact. With dollar matching, your organisation could match your team’s efforts, dollar for dollar. Your workplace might also offer charitable donations up to a certain cap.
Chat to your manager or HR, and inspire a corporate donation to your team. As a workplace, you can have a significant impact on the delivery of healthcare services.
“Our Executive team set us a sponsorship challenge and said if we achieved ‘x’ amount of kms, they would donate ‘x’ amount to support us, so we were determined to achieve that!”
– Pallavi Bakre, Captain of AXE Group
