Rewind to 2001

It was January day of 45 degrees at Mintaka Station about 145 kms south east of Cunnamulla, a sheep kicked a shearing hand piece into my left forearm. Kind of knew I was in a bit of thrife, and with a dirty old towel we wrapped the arm and drove another 60ks south to Dunsandle Station to where the RFDS landed on a dirt road, and after careful inspection I had the choice to fly to either Broken Hill or Toowoomba. Off to Toowoomba we flew and on landing all planes were grounded in Queensland with a fuel contamination scare. We waited on the tarmac in Toowoomba about 60 minutes and having a craving for flying the team showed me around the plane. It was this flight I decided to become a pilot. My shearing took me all over the far south west and whenever there was a fundraiser beer bbq and lucky tickets became the way I could give back. Today I get to dig a little deeper through walking and I have three great companies ready to sponsor me.

We're fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, we're taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, we hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to our challenge today!
