I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long walking challenge to help more people access the care they need. By doing this, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!  I intend to start walking straight away but will only log my steps during October.

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

My Updates

Thank you Kelsian

Thursday 17th Oct
Thanks to Kelsian for matching a donation to my fundraiser  this morning, dollar for dollar, so instead of $30 it was $60!

Cash donations welcomed!

Thursday 3rd Oct
If you don't have access to internet payments and you would like to donate to our walk for the RFDS, you can pay either of us with cash and we will put it through to the RFDS and they will supply you with an official receipt

THANK YOU!

And we're off!!

Wednesday 2nd Oct
The Tanunda Twosome are up and running......well, walking actually as we're a bit past running.... but we're doing our best to raise some funds for the RFDS -what would our country do without them?

Almost time for the real thing!

Sunday 29th Sep
Well, practice runs are almost over and I have achieved my walking goal - that will all get wiped off and the real challenge starts on October 1st.

You can donate any time, even in the next couple of days, right through until the end of October, so please support this very essential service - the Royal Flying Doctor Service!

Change of Recording method 16 Sept 2024

Monday 16th Sep
I have had trouble with Strava recording my walking distances, it registers on my phone but not on my OTO page, so I have downloaded the Oceans to Outback app on my Apple iphone and we'll see how it goes.....  need to get it sorted before the real test starts on October 1st

Bella has an OTO bandana

Saturday 7th Sep
I stuck my Oceans to Outback sticker on a green bandana so that Bella has some input on our walks when I'm wearing my T-shirt

My daily walks

Tuesday 3rd Sep
I have been recording my walks on Strava, which I love and it makes it so easy,  but the annual subs is too much for me so I will be doing manual recording from now on.

Getting a little easier

Thursday 29th Aug
Walking is doing me good - my left hip was getting really stiff and sore, but since I started walking regularly again I am managing to do the whole walk without having to sit down halfway. By the time the chanllenge starts on October 1st I'll be fit as a fiddle lol
