We're fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
We've been making regular donations to the RFDS for a while now, and after travelling throughout Australia we have seen what a positive impact they have on regional and remote communities. Not just for emergency rescues, but in every day health care.
From visiting the Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum in Darwin, seeing the countless 'runways' etched into highways and remote roads, reading the RFDS adventures books, tracking the RFDS fleet through flight tracker and recently hearing a story of a young boy being evacuated from a remote gorge we had recently visited after falling 10metres, the RFDS has come up many times in our travels.
Jackson was asking about a way we could further donate to the RFDS and we found the perfect opportunity in the Oceans to Outback Challenge.
This October, we're taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. Greg and Amanda have committed to running/walking 81kms each, that's 1km for every Flying Doctor aircraft across Australia. Jackson and Maddie have committed to running 42kms- 1 km for every 1000 Australians who can't easily access basic healthcare.
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to our challenge today!
